Henna – Why are the stains on palms and soles darker and long-lasting than others?

Henna has been widely acclaimed as the safest and healthiest form of the Body Art that can majestically increase the appeal and worth of the whole body.
This sensational discovery is now quite popular all round the world for its therapeutic as well as motif standpoints.
The Henna leaves contain a burgundy dye molecule known as Lawsone.
This dye molecule when placed on the surface of the skin penetrates the deep skin layers to make up a coloured imprint on the areas in contact with it.
The dye molecules do not spread out and rather stay in place whilst producing an explicit image and design.
The stains produced on the skin are closely associated with the biological structure of the skin.
Our skin consists of Stratum Corneum layer which is merely composed of dead and dry cells which soak up the dye and slowly and gradually exfoliate and desquamate to fade the impression of the stain on the skin.
The brightness of these marks depends, basically, upon the depth of the Corneum layer and the regeneration rate of its cells.
The Stratum Corneum layer on the palms of the hands and on the soles of the feet is thickest than the layers found anywhere else in the body.
Usually, as deeper is the layer, the greater is the dye saturation and darker the imprint produced and the longer it lasts.
People who tend to remain barefoot and are manual labours, have deeper layers of dead cells as compared to the ?couch potatoes? who mostly remain in shoes or at least wear the socks all the time.
Our heels have the greatest number of layers, so basically that is why they are heavily stained by Henna.
On average there are 86 layers but they can also go up to being 120 in other adults!
